The water is there
Kinetic
Edges held static
By concrete and sand
The dam is loud
But I cannot hear it
From where I kneel
On pebbled land
There’s a city under there
Drowned
Doorjambs empty
Of daily homecomings
I could walk
The entire circumference
And still feel a stranger
To its clouded feelings
And yet be comforted
By its ever-presence
The water is there
Kinetic

Thank you, and thanks for reading!
Nice!
The drowned city and empty doorjamb left me wondering: is this a reservoir that flooded an old town when created, or something? Curious 🙂
Yes! and it’s much larger than you’d think. It’s the 3rd largest body of water in Montana. I need to visit it more.
