It’s Wednesday! Time to take a break.
When we were in San Francisco, I wanted to buy a sweatshirt. If you don’t know me, I hate to shop. The entire process makes my skin crawl – from touching items fondled by others to talking to strangers so I can pay. When you add in that I lose cognitive ability the longer I’m upright, you can see how it causes anxiety and reluctance.
When I saw this mannequin, I didn’t even think about shopping. I only thought about how hilarious and wonderful it was. Remember when you were a kid and you’d see the McDonald’s arches from the highway and get excited? That. I was drawn in like a fly to honey. Before I knew it, I was in the middle of the store, touching shirts and actively shopping.
How did you connect today? Did you take a little longer to listen to a long story? Did you make someone laugh?
How did you make yourself comfortable today? Did you drive home a new way so you could feel the summer breeze longer? Maybe you chose a healthier lunch?
It’s those small, sometimes ridiculous, things that make each day better.
But…but…did you get a sweatshirt?

I did! A striped one. I also ended up buying one with an octopus from the Aquarium the same day.
