Wednesdays are for taking a creative moment & counting blessings, sharing inspiration, & anticipating the approaching weekend. I’d love for you to share your Wednesday moment in the comments or attach a link to your blog.
Many of you are like me. You have a distaste for sappy holidays…maybe for any holidays. In which case, I apologize for today’s post, because I wrote my husband two poems this year, and I want to share one.
The first was for the card I gave him. Normal. The second was because of the two-week long struggle I had trying to choose a card. I’m not the only one who hates the saccharin, and mostly generic, sentiment in those cards, am I?
I can’t guarantee my words are any better, but at least I wrote them. How many of us buy those cards and then end up writing our own stuff inside them anyway? They should just sell all cards blank. (My personal, and a bit lopsided, opinion.)
Here is the second poem:
Our Love Does Not Rhyme
It is a wordless song –
It is a Tree of Life with roots
Tangled in the dark loam
Your leg thrown over mine,
Our hair entwined;
It is a Tree of Life whose crown
Makes the sky laugh, in booms
and birdsong, conspirators
In the cosmic joke;
It is a Tree of Life with trunk
Sound and whole, sap streaming
Gold to green, highlighting
the entire world;
We are the Tree of Life,
You and I.
Our love is a wordless song.
How did you show your love for someone this week?
