“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Today’s call to action is about the Dakota Access Pipeline. As so many of you know, the Army Corps of Engineers, along with militarized law enforcement, have been escalating the violence against peaceful demonstrators and protesters. If you don’t know the story, here’s an update.
Here are the numbers & a script to help you make the calls.
White House → (202) 456-1111, 202-456-1414
or White House Situation Room: 202-456-9431
Army Corps of Engineers: 202-761-8700;
National Guard ND: 701-333-2000
I’m — —- calling about the Army Corps of Engineers’ decision to forcibly remove water protectors from Standing Rock beginning Dec. 5. Preventing the water protectors from exercising their First Amendment rights is unconstitutional and a gross abuse of military power. I want <official’s name> to :
- Allow water protectors to exercise their right to peaceful assembly/protest.
- Immediately stop attacking water protectors with tear gas, water cannons, rubber bullets, percussion grenades, attack dogs, or other violent means.
- Refrain from arresting/interfering with peaceful demonstrators.
If phone calls aren’t your thing, you can also donate to a coordinated effort by a group of veterans to show up at Standing Rock to protect & defend the protesters before Dec 5th.
