Saturday Show and Tell – a showcase of things each week that lit up my brain and fired my imagination. Enjoy!
Yesterday, I watched three seagulls playing in the late afternoon sunshine. As they banked, the sun made their parchment-colored bellies shine like pearls. It was one of the few moments this week where I was able to take a deep breath and hope for the best.
I finished reading Black Elk Speaks on Friday. I kept waiting for the win, even though I already knew the ending. Somehow, my capacity to believe that the right will win out in the end never dies! As Black Elk said, their “nation’s hoop is broken and scattered. There is no center any longer, and the sacred tree is dead.”
And yet they keep fighting. Here is a list of ways to help
This organization works to abolish the prison industry complex, and they need your help. They are looking for people to host holiday card coloring parties! They send you a packet of cards to color; you get together with friends, food, laughter, and maybe some Christmas carols & ugly sweaters, color away, send the cards back, and they mail them to the prisoners for the holiday! I’ve never done this before, but I’m doing it this year. Will you join in?
I know my posts lately have all been political. I think I need to dedicate one day a week here to those ideas. I want one day to serve as a call to action, a fist in the air, and a sharing of grievances. So, starting next week the schedule will be as follows:
Make the Change Monday
Wednesday’s A Moment
Saturday Show & Tell
The dialogue begins with you. What things sparked your mind & actions this week?
